Tommy Longrigg is an independent professional based in Eastern China with extensive experience as a writer, teacher and education consultant.
Tommy has lived on China for 11 years, and is embarking on a new adventure, building a new life on his own terms.
Tommy grew up in a typical middle-class family in North Yorkshire; he went to school in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria, where good friends and academic rigour kept him from being distracted by minor life details such as sexual orientation and precise career direction.
His life changed in innumerable ways after moving to Asia, where the freedom he discovered gave him the time and energy to begin to find himself and come to terms with numerous truths, such as being gay and realizing that law school wasn’t for him.
One of Tommy’s biggest aims in the coming years is to write something that will help raise awareness of a brand of bigotry that has become prevalent today in the LGBT community against gay people with an outlook that doesn’t match a left-wing or ultra-liberal standpoint.
