John was born in Preston and raised nearby in Leyland in the North of England. He started his career as an Apprentice at Leyland Motors then moved on to BAe Systems in the late 80's
These days, he is a Manufacturing Resource Team Leader at BAE and deals with over 3,300 staff, matching a multitude of manufacturing skills to Project Requirements. Over a varied career he has moved from being a skilled machinist through various forms of Business and Finance management gaining excellent people skills and knowledge along the way. He has strong views about life in general and sits left of centre with his political thinking.
John's first love is Preston North End Football Club having 'endured' 48 seasons on the terraces and in the stands at Deepdale. He has written a 'Fans Panel' column in the Lancashire Evening Post for over 15 years, along with match reports and articles for the Guardian and the Observer. John has made numerous appearances on local and national radio discussing the good, the bad and the ugly side of Preston and football in general.
